The next day the cave was empty. It was a school day so most people had been in school all day, however, they should just eb about off school and in no time the cave would become pretty crowded.

Ariel, however, was at home. They had managed to find an antidote for her bug bite, but she still felt pretty weak, and felt like something was missing. She was laying down in her bed, staring at her arm while My Little Pony played on her TV across the room.

Nathan was out of school a little bit earlier than Maddie since he was three classes under her. And once he was, he was first to ran straight home, using his superspeed, but making sure no one saw him of course. He'd been dying of hunger the whole afternoon and needed to eat something between soccer practise.


Maddie had had an advanced Chemistry test her last period when she got off. She was collecting her books by her locker, stroking her red hair behind her ear. She thought she did pretty good, but was pretty sure she missed a question, which bothered her. That being why she wasn't in a rush to get home, well. Actually she was going straight for the cave, she was gonna meet Tim there later.

"Ariel?" Nikki opened the door, walking over with a drink and a plate of some leftover dinner they had last night. "Hey, sweetie. I got some heated up meatloaf, macaroni, and mashed potatoes for you. Hope you're hungry."

"Not really, but I'll still eat," Ariel giggled, sitting up. Usually, ever since her powers really bloomed, she had been hungry a lot. It was not that she wasn't as starving as she thought she would be. Maybe it was because she hadn't run or strained herself in the last 24 hours.

"Your arm still hurting you?" Nikki asked her daughter, sitting the tray down on her lap. She carefully held the arm and unwrapped the bandage. One of her eyebrows rose in confusion. The bite still looked pretty brand new. Her metabolism should have kicked in to help the cells repair the wound faster than this. Maybe the venom from the bite was just delaying it.

"Doesn't hurt as bad," Ariel replied, grabbing the fork with her left hand, taking a bite of the mash potatoes.


John, meanwhile, was waiting for his dad to pick him up. While he had been waiting, he was keeping an eye on this kid that usually hung around the school. He looked a bit like a thug, and wondered why he was having around a private school.

That kid, was just exchanging a few drugs and other things with some kids at the school, getting money for it.

D'ick hunked the horn after pulling up, seeing John distracted. "Hey there!" He tried to get his son's attention. He'd been a minute late because of work struggles at work.


Nathan got home to an empty house, making himself a pretty big meal. He thought about what he was gonna do before soccer. Maybe he should go to the cave, see if anyone was there. Maybe train a little? He looked at the time. Yeah, mum was there. He knew because the team had practise later today. He usually missed it because of soccer, that's why he thought of going in early today do train before it started.


Maddie read her phone, seeing she'd got a text from Tim. He was in last period, asking if they still were gonna catch up at the cave later. Smiling she answered that she just got uóff and were heading to the cave now. She put her phone in her back pocket before getting her bag strap over her shoulder and heading out.
